Grade 1 Teacher, OWIS Suntec
Alethea Luo Jiayi grew up and studied in Singapore with her parents, two brothers and two dogs. She has a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Early Education from Wheelock College.
Alethea was inspired to become a teacher when she became an assistant teacher in a voluntary organisation. After four years, she discovered that teaching and working with children was her passion.
As a teacher, Alethea believes that children learn best when they feel happy and are active participants in their learning. She strives to provide a warm and engaging environment for her students, so they can feel confident and safe to explore the world freely. In addition, she hopes to instil a sense of love, respect and kindness in every student in her classroom. Alethea does this by modelling these values for her students.
At OWIS, she's looking forward to implementing the IB PYP curriculum, getting to know her colleagues and having fun learning with her new batch of children.
In her free time, she volunteers with animal welfare organisations that rescue dogs.
