Learning at OWIS

At One World International School, our learning programme supports all aspects of children's development - academic, physical, social and emotional.

From early childhood and primary school all the way through to secondary school, our well-rounded approach prepares children to thrive in all areas of life, putting them on track to become dynamic global citizens, thoughtful leaders and lifelong learners.

Our core values of kindness and compassion are woven into every aspect of student's learning journey. Our teachers make each child feel valued, and we celebrate the diversity of our school community. Our nurturing environment fosters a sense of safety and belonging as students learn to respect themselves and each other while they explore the world around them and consider different perspectives and cultures.

Student Learning

Our curricula and learning environment empowers students to take ownership of their learning and become independent thinkers from an early age. We place a lot of emphasis on student agency which means that the learner is placed at the centre of learning and is responsible for making choices that drive the learning.

Our teachers personalise their students’ learning journeys by trying to understand student’s interests and what motivates them. This allows students to develop a passion for their education that traditional methods of learning struggle to maintain.

Our engaging learning programmes provide avenues for all students to stretch their thinking, build transferable skills, discover and fulfil their potential at school and become innovative, responsible citizens in a global economy.

At OWIS, students have a variety of opportunities to learn both within and outside the classroom.

Student playing in the garden

Field trips and service projects encourage students to bring what they're learning to the larger community.

Student making handicraft

Exhibitions and other special events at school allow students to showcase their talents and skills.

Student practicing yoga

Co-curricular activities enable students to explore their talents further or learn something new without the pressure of formal assessments.

Early Childhood

Our youngest learners participate in our Early Childhood programme which is designed for students aged 3-6 years old. The OWIS learning programmes SG align with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), which is designed for students aged 3-11. For pre-primary school children, the PYP includes an "Early Years" component, tailored to the academic, emotional and social needs of students taking their first steps into education.

Primary School

For students aged 7-11, we offer the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), a rigorous curriculum that challenges young minds. With a strong emphasis on academics, the PYP also addresses students' physical, social, emotional and cultural needs. At OWIS, we take a one-of-a-kind, personalised approach to the PYP. Our student-centred teaching strategies and continuous assessment recognise children's individual accomplishments, empowering them to excel beyond what they think is possible.

Secondary School

For students aged 12-18, OWIS  offers the Cambridge IGCSE programme and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).

Our IGCSE programme is based on the UK National Curriculum, yet, is adapted for our international population. Inquiry learning and our emphasis on multicultural appreciation continue in secondary school, culminating with 9 subject specific IGCSEs in Grades 9 and 10.

As with our other learning programmes, our pre-university programme for students aged 17-18 focuses on nurturing all aspects of students' development — intellectual, physical, emotional and social. The IB DP, offered to our Grade 11 and 12 students, is highly regarded by prestigious universities throughout the world and prepares young adults for the rigours of higher education and success in a global workforce.
