One World International School follows the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Programme (PYP) in Primary School and a modified UK curriculum accredited by Cambridge International Examinations Board which leads to 11 IGCSE's in Secondary School.

Children are born with a deep need to explore their world and learn by questioning. At One World International School, we believe in fostering this natural curiosity, creativity, and desire for meaningful connection so it can flourish into strong skills for a happy and productive life benefitting all.

From early childhood through preparation for university, our curricula and learning atmosphere offers a rich journey towards these goals. It helps students develop the careful thinking, inclination toward innovation, and international mindedness needed to become responsible citizens in an increasingly global economy.

This comprehensive approach begins with PYP – the Primary Years Programme for early childhood through grade 5 – and grows into our Cambridge IGCSE Programme for grades 6 to 10. The Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education ensures the completion of comprehensive, rigorous studies to achieve success at university and beyond.

Both programmes include inquiry learning – a technique aimed at helping students to ask meaningful questions requiring more than “yes” and “no” answers. It is a learning process that aids contemplation and helps students to reason based on evidence.

IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)

Early Childhood & Primary School

Early in life, children thrive with learning that integrates cognitive, physical and social skills as well as encouraging independence and reliability. OWIS teachers aim to develop confident, highly engaged learners who can explore both local and global issues.

The PYP programme includes aspects of additional hands-on learning methods, including Montessori and Reggio Emilia. Similar to the IB model, these approaches focus on helping young children to explore and take responsibility for their work and choices as well as developing respect for others and a sense of community.

We offer authentic learning that is intellectually age appropriate and honours a student’s personal background. Our global approach is sincere: we serve some 40 diverse nationalities.

Inquiry learning and our emphasis on multicultural appreciation continue in our broad range of IGCSE subjects, including studies in many languages with in-depth literary and language instruction in English and Mandarin.Other standard studies include: citizenship; humanities; information literacy; mathematics; physical education; science; social studies; and the visual and performing arts. In addition, we offer everyday life skills through our personal, social and health education (PSHE) classes.

Although individual and providing discrete assessment in their subject areas, these classes often involve cross-curricular connections to reinforce a broader, global viewpoint.

Small Class Sizes, Big Impact

OWIS believes that small class sizes are helpful in providing students with the attention necessary to identify individual strengths and learning styles, and to achieve at a high level. We want the learning we facilitate to have a major, positive impact on our students, their families and the world.

Singapore is our home, but OWIS is part of a larger family of educational institutions reaching well beyond our nation and providing curricular innovation -- the Global Schools Foundation. You’ll find GSF schools in Japan, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the United Arab Emirates.
