Our much-loved Deepavali celebration took place at our campuses on 3rd November, 2021. There was a festive feeling in the air, with students of all nationalities coming dressed in Indian traditional clothes or in the colours of their house to celebrate the vibrant occasion.
All the students learned the steps of a Bollywood song, and in the spirit of fun, we created a dance competition around it with every class submitting an entry of their performance. The winning class in each grade level was presented with a gift of a string of lights for their classroom and individual chocolates for the students as well.
Our teachers at our campuses went out of their way to make the day special for our students. The doors were decorated with bright cutouts of lamps and hanging ornaments, learners learnt the basics of rangoli making, and they got the opportunity to have mehandi designs applied on their hands, which would have been a first for many.
Our OWIS Parent Committee (or OPC) also put in a tremendous effort to come in and decorate the campuses after school hours, and so many parents sent individually packed Indian sweets for the students to enjoy later at home.
Our sincere thanks to the OPC and the Diwali Committee of teachers, comprising Ekta Sabharwal, Shruti Nadig, Sakshi Singh, Devika Bhutani, Debakshi Sen, Bharti Dadhwal, Irum Shah, Vidhi Mamtani, Preema Thomas, Preeti Shetty, and Harbans Kaur at OWIS Nanyang; Paresha Shroff, Snehal Tonpay, and Mangalam Veeraghanta at OWIS Suntec; and Fauzia Siddiqui at One World Preschool, Mountbatten.
