OWIS launches the International Baccalaureate® Diploma Programme

We have been authorised to offer the International Baccalaureate® Diploma Programme (IB DP) to our students Grade 11 for the 2019 – 2020 academic year at our Nanyang campus. We believe that the IBDP programme aligns with our OWIS values which will enable students to develop their knowledge physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically, as well as apply this knowledge and their critical thinking skills in a useful way. It aims to equip lifelong learners with an understanding of how knowledge and skills can be used to benefit the community at large.

The two-year educational programme for students between 16 and 18 years old is an internationally and highly-recognised qualification for entry into many universities in the US, UK, Singapore and Australia, including prestigious ones like Stanford University, New York University and the University of Cambridge.

For those who are unfamiliar with the IB DP, it is a two-year educational programme consisting of six subject groups and core courses, comprising Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) and the Extended Essay. The six subject groups are studies in language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics and the arts, with different courses available under each subject group. The evaluation process is based on internal and external assessments, with students undertaking a project that involves community service.
