Melanie received her Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Reading University. Melanie is very passionate about Chemistry and Science and has always found it fascinating how everything can be related to it. This is why Melanie believes that science is an important subject to learn and due to her passion for this subject she decided to use her enthusiasm to teach. Melanie worked in a number of schools in the UK as a Science teacher and enjoyed progressing in her roles there. Melanie works hard to bring out the best in every student and her aim in teaching is to enthuse, inspire and engage. Alongside this, Melanie sets high expectations of her pupils and strive for them to achieve their full potential both academically and socially. Knowing that she can make a difference is a great source of satisfaction for her.
Melanie has worked in Qatar where she had the responsibility of being the KS3 Coordinator of Science. As a member of staff, Melanie is not afraid to take on new roles and responsibilities and she is able to lead staff in order to implement and accomplish her vision.
Melanie has also had the opportunity of working as a Head of Year and has thoroughly enjoyed this. In this role, she helped establish a new whole school pedagogy which has improved communication and utilisation of time for both staff and students. Melanie has collaborated and worked with staff in an effort to develop whole school pupil management and has also developed an excellent rapport with students and parents. Furthermore, she ensures her expectations are consistently and clearly communicated to students and meticulously applies school policies.
As a teacher, Melanie is constantly evaluating and reflecting upon her teaching practice and leadership skills to identify targets for future development. Melanie hopes to contribute to develop as an outstanding practitioner and progress further in a pastoral role.
Outside of school, Melanie has a great interest in music and enjoys playing the piano. She enjoys drawing and painting in her free time and enjoys basketball, netball and boxing. Melanie also enjoys travelling and has a passion for skiing.
