Curriculum - Early Childhood (International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program-IB-PYP)
Our Early Childhood classes 1 and 2 provide a comfortable and secure environment for children to take their first educational steps in schools. These help form the essential building blocks for children’s future learning. Children learn best through first –hand experience. We provide an interesting, challenging environment with a wide range of opportunities in which children can be actively involved in learning through talking, exploring, and playing. In this setting we take great care to support each child’s developing self-esteem.Whilst children come to school with a range of abilities and experiences, we aim to develop each and every child according to their needs. From the early stages, emphasis is placed on development of gross and fine motor skills, creatively and development of language and social skills.

Throughout the programme, a rich English language environment is provided with teaching based on a progression of skills. Speaking and listening skills are fostered as students interact with books and stories. This makes them aware of the sounds of language before beginning to read and write. Development of the understanding of mathematical ideas is based on a progression of Mathematical skills and culminates to the introduction of numerals and mathematical symbols.

Through four PYP Units of Inquiry each year, children are helped to understand themselves and their interactions with others, the world around them and their creative potential.
