The primary purpose of assessment is to inform teaching and improve learning.
Both students and teachers are engaged in assessing student progress. Students are often part of self and peer assessment activities.
In the Early and Primary Years all students keep individualised PYP portfolios to document and reflect on their progress throughout the year.
Teachers spend time at the end of each Unit of Inquiry or block of teaching, reflecting on the teaching, learning and outcomes of the unit, ensuring continuous improvement in our Units of Inquiry and our teaching and learning.
Assessment evidence includes examples of student work or performance, Teacher observations and anecdotal records, Student self-reflection, Photos of performance, Criteria sheets and Rubrics, Statistics relating to benchmarks and test results.
As students move into middle school, examinations are introduced together with the teaching of study skills to ensure that every individual performs at their best with the minimum of stress.
