Why should I send my child to One World International
School?

OWIS
has much to offer your child. One World International school offers a one-
world community atmosphere where parents are part of the school family that
provides opportunities for fun and friendship. Situated in the East Coast area,
close to the airport with good links to the city, the campus is set in green
and spacious grounds, offering tranquillity and peace away from the
crowds.  At One World International School
our mission is to enable every child to be a caring global citizen, reach their
potential, have a sense of self worth, be confident, knowledgeable, articulate
in more than one language and have enthusiasm and commitment on their personal
journey of learning.

What nationalities attend One World International School?

All nationalities are able to enrol in OWIS. There is no one dominant
nationality or group. Currently, thirty three nationalities are represented in
the school population, however, students who hold Singaporean citizenship only,
or as part of dual citizenship, must apply to the Singapore Ministry of
Education for approval to enrol. We will help you with this process.

How do we enrol in One World International School?

If you leave your name and contact details at +65 65422285 we will contact you,
provide you with all the necessary information and help you with the process.
Alternatively, all the necessary documents can be found on this website.

My child has learning/medical/social needs. Am I able to enrol
him/her?

All enrolment applications are considered on a case by case basis. Once we have
determined your child’s needs and, if we are able to adequately cater for those
needs, then the application would proceed as standard.

Does my child have to be able to speak English?

Children from non English speaking backgrounds are eligible to enrol. OWIS
provides support for these children.

What curriculum do you follow?

The OWIS primary school is a candidate school for the International
Baccalaureate PYP (Primary Years Program).
The OWIS middle school follows a inquiry based modified UK curriculum
and is registered to offer the IGCSE programme.

Do you teach any foreign languages?

Yes, the school provides every child with daily Mandarin classes.

Why are fees in international schools so high?

In many countries domestic schools have teacher salaries and capital funding
paid by the government and the schools are often exempt from tax. International
schools do not qualify for any form of government funding. In addition, they
have to pay taxes. The only form of funding for international schools is
through fee collection.

How many students are in each class?

It is our aim to provide individual attention for all students. Therefore our
class size will not exceed 18+2, where the +2 refers to the sibling priority
places.

Where is the One World International School located?

696 Upper Changi Road East. It is close to East Coast Park and with lots of
accommodation options nearby. East Coast is a very popular location for
expatriate families.

Are parents welcome at the One World International School?

Yes. OWIS encourages parental involvement in a variety of ways including a parent
committee and volunteer program. Full details will be available on enrolment.

How do I find out how my child is progressing at school?

We see your understanding of and your commitment to your child as one of our
greatest resources. In addition to a weekly school newsletter, school reports
and teacher/parent conferences each class also has a class website which the
class teachers update weekly. This website to only for class parents and
contains information regarding the timetable, homework, curriculum as well as
weekly updates and class photos.

What facilities do you have available?

Facilities include designated areas for outdoor and indoor sports, gymnasium,
basketball, badminton & tennis courts, a multipurpose auditorium, centres
for visual and performing arts, air-conditioned rooms, state of the art IT and
Library infrastructure and we have 24 hour on site security in the School. We
do not have a swimming pool on site but we use the SIA Sports Club pool that is
located adjacent to the school.

What extracurricular activities do you offer?

It is our aim to provide the best possible extracurricular programme. Currently
we provide tennis, soccer, netball, dance, art, IT, Karate, Voice coaching,
Guitar.

Does the school provide transport for students?

The school has a contracted bus service. This is a door to door service in
quality buses that have individual seat belts for every child and at least two
adults on every bus.

Can students start midterm?

Yes. It is quite common for students to start in international schools midterm.
We will individualise the program and help your child settle in.

Is the wearing of the school uniform compulsory?

Yes, the uniform needs to be worn at all times in line with our uniform policy.

My child’s current education system is different to One World
International School. Will he/she be disadvantaged?

Children at international schools come from a variety of educational systems.
Our Head of School and many of our teachers have experience in a variety of
international schools and are well aware of the similarities and the
differences of each system. We will guide and support you to ensure that your
child is not disadvantaged.

Are positions currently available at One World International
School?

We still have positions available at some grades and some grades are waitlisted
for the 2011 -2012 academic year. If you would like to know whether we would
have a position for your child(ren) please contact us and we will be able to
